History

Established on october 6th, 1976 by Maurice Bergeron and Claude Pageau, AUTO RECYCLAGE BERPA made a commitment, via the auction, to offer clients a profitable solution to dispose of vehicles declared total losses.

As a matter of fact, Berpa was the first company in North America to use the principal elements of the auction to liquidate cars declared total losses.

From the beginning, our founders knew how to take advantage of their experience and expertise by establishing a system which maximizes the sale of every vehicle fragment to reduce losses. From then on, Auto Recyclage Berpa took residence at 9160, boulevard Henri-Bourassa and offered its customers and insurers a yard which surfaced more than 70 000 ft². In its debut, Auto Recyclage Berpa only had four employees.

Early the 80s, the development of the company faced such an expansion that Berpa had to rent the neighbouring location to add up to 100 000 ft².

The end of the 80s announced an even more substantial growth to reach an annual volume of about 9 000 vehicles. This increase thus justified the move to another location, 1125 Metropolitan Boulevard, with 500 000 ft² then filling in the rising needs of the company and its insurer customers. The company then had ten employees.

At the beginning of the 90s, Maurice Bergeron solely took the reins of the forever growing business. During the same period, Auto Recyclage Berpa was looking for a much wider site as well as being easily accessible. The place was found and the development of the 2,2 million ft² ground began in 1998.

At the beginning of 2000, Maurice Bergeron, wanting to retire, left management of the business to his son Pierre.

Pierre had been working there since he was nine years of age in the summer during his studies, and full-time afterwards. Thereafter, Pierre dedicated "sabbatical" years to improve his training elsewhere, only to return with even more dedication, filled with ideas and projects.

Since November 2004, Berpa occupies the newly managed ground offering many more possibilities. There can be found the administrative offices which have nearly thirty employees, in a tall fenced and secure space for vehicle storage as well as a garage with the necessary equipment for vehicle inspection.

Since 1976, Berpa diversified and offered even more services while preserving its continual support for its faithful clientele in order to remain the number 1 choice from more than 35 years.
